Tip No. 6 Ball Middle

Tip No. 6 for hitting in slow pitch softball has to do with where you are aiming the bat at the ball. The idea is to hit the softball right in the middle of the ball. This is usually referred to as "split it in half" with your bat.

The idea is that if you hit the middle of the ball you will create a line drive. If you hit the top half of the ball you will create a ground ball and weak hit, whereas if you hit the bottom half you will create a fly ball.

While true that if you hit the bottom half the ball may fly farther in the air, but those are easier for fielders to catch than line drives. Try to swing your softball bat right through the middle of that ball when it is pitched!
